The Shikanov Lab is affiliated with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan. In our research we aim to create artificial constructs that direct tissue regeneration and restore biological function employing methods from engineering, materials, chemistry and life sciences. To achieve this, we use natural hydrogels and multifunctional synthetic hydrophilic polymers. Three main application realms of our research are reproductive biology, toxicology and cancer. We thank the funding agencies, National Scientific Foundation (NSF CAREER and NSFGRF) and National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (R01-EB022033; R21 AI1201815), The Hartwell Foundation and The Segal Family Excellence in Stem Cell Research Grant for supporting our research!
